Brakes for days!!

Boys and Girls! This is the holy grail of vehicle safety and performance. It doesnt matter how fast you can get going if you can't stop your ride! You've already been let loose on some brakes with plenty of guidance and exposure. There are some things you can spot with your eyes, but there are others you need measuring equipment for. These two are: Thickness and Runout(wobble). Check out the links below and come to class prepared for some disc brake system(the most common) research, disassembly, inspection, and reassembly. The links below should be a general overview of how to check for these types of wear.

tools to use: Dial indicator with stand
                    Dial caliper or Micrometer

IMPORTANT!! You must consider your safety first... Asbestos is assumed to be present while working with braking systems. Be sure to read the article below on asbestos exposure pertaining to cars.

Update!

Hopefully Fred is recovering from his surgery. We have been performing some physical therapy to an old whale in our lab! It is a 68 Ford a country sedan with a 390ci v8 (6.4liters)!!!!! It's old and in great shape for its age. We've also been working on a 1997 miata. It had been backed into so the radiator had to be replaced.

So far with the wagon we've been draining the fluids. Gotta start fresh with the fluids! Also we removed the wheels and gas tank. Slowly but surely!

Wall of Shame

So on Saturday me, Anthony, Devin, and Ibad are walking home from taking the SATs  and we pass by this car

And I ask "Oh what car is this? I didn't know dodge made a car like this."(It had the dodge emblem on the front bumper)

Ibad replies "Oh its a Dodge Viper!!"

Let's run him out of class like an angry mob.
